Ellen Caywood died March 3, 2023, in Gardnerville, NV.
Ellen was born April 25, 1944, in Denver, CO. She was raised in CO and WY and CA. She graduated from San Marion High School in 1961 and went on to Pomona College, graduating in 1965. She earned her MBA in 1992. Ellen would meet Tom Caywood while working at HR Textron in Valencia CA. They married in 1993 and retired to Gardnerville in 1994.
When Tom passed March 3, 2001, Ellen moved to Minden where she was active in her Church and with the Douglas County Historical Society, where she wrote a weekly column “Main Street Moments” for the Record-Courier about museums.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Edwin B Palmer and Rigmor W Mitchell, her husband Thomas H Caywood and her daughter Leslie Jill Levenson. She is survived by her beloved Stepson John Zirbel, his wife Dawn, grandchildren Ryan Zirbel, Danielle Shrode and John
Green, and great grandson Jett Shrode. Ellen is also survived by many friends who were a great source of comfort in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held April 28, 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church Gardnerville, NV
