Dick passed away unexpectedly on January 10th, 2023 at 71 years old.
Dick was a dedicated and loving husband, father and friend to many in his community. He enjoyed waking up before the sun came up and watching it go back down while casually fishing at his favorite local spot. He was known as ‘Lefty’ on the golf course and always had a dog on his lap when a good golf tournament was playing in the living room. Dick loved bringing people together through laughter. With a twinkle in his eyes and a goofy sense of humor, he never turned down a good story or a perfectly timed joke.
Dick was a realtor for over 33 years, the last 32 at RE/ MAX Realty Affiliates. He was in the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and was President of what was then the Carson, Douglas, Lyon Tahoe Board of Realtors. Dick was known to many as ’The Real Estate Guy’. For years he was consistently one of the top producing Realtors in the Carson Valley. He did it by ‘planning his work and working his plan’ and being very active in the community (Kiwanis, Toast Masters, and the Carson Valley Methodist Church). Dick loved what he did for a living, and even in his final weeks, the hospital nurses joked that Dick was still trying to sell them real estate.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorian; daughter, Shaelyn Delgado and son-in-law, Jose Delgado; son, Devon McCole; and grandson, Luca Delgado. He was the middle of nine children and was proceeded in death by his parents, oldest brother, and his oldest sister just passed away in February.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville, Nevada 89410. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
