Carson City - Nita DeMars, age 83, passed away peacefully March 18, 2023 with her children at her side. She was born August 13, 1939 in Bend, Oregon to Albert & Beulah Hilgers. Nita loved to love on people. She baked & decorated many cakes throughout the years, she sewed quilts for her children and grandchildren and was often working on a scrapbook of memories for somebody. When she wasn’t working on an inside project, you could find her working in her garden or flowerbeds. Her hands were rarely still. Whether she was square dancing, kayaking, performing with the Nevada Gunfighters or enjoying her water aerobics classes, Nita remained active and people were often wrong when they’d guess her age. Young and spry were definitely two words used to describe her. Nita’s doctor coined it perfectly when he said, “Nita was an excellent example of aging with grace. We could all learn from Nita.” Much loved mother of Skip, Lori, Debbie, Vance and Butch. Cherished grandmother of Raycie, Jacob, Garrett, Gracie, Jack and John. Great grandmother of Addlyn, Jaycee and Emilee. Sister of Albert and Lester Hilgers, the late George Hilgers, and the late Alberta Hilgers. Remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Celebrations of Life will be held Saturday, 4/15/23 @ 1:00pm at 7605 Shadow Ln, Sparks, NV 89434 and Saturday, 4/29/23 in Bend, OR (details will be posted on social media when finalized)
