Genoa, Nev. — The Business Showcase is 3-6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. Around three-dozen businesses and organizations will be there to talk to residents about what they offer.


It will likely be a while before we find out more details on the fiery collision that closed Interstate 580 for more than six hours on Wednesday. Media reports are that it involved a car going northbound in the southbound lanes and colliding with a pickup.


Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday about halfway up Kingsbury Grade involving two pickups, one of which ended up on its side, according to firefighters on scene. Everyone was ambulatory and no one took an ambulance ride.


The owner of Re-Bath Reno reportedly had some Douglas folks among the 14 homeowners bilked out of $160,000. Sandra Jeanne Tyler, 77, was taken into custody, according to the Nevada Contractors Board. She faces up to nine years in prison at her June 5 sentencing.


The Woodfords maintenance crew is making a mile a day headway clearing Highway 4 toward Ebbetts Pass, the California Department of Transportation said. They’re working in snow 12-16-feet deep along with downed trees and debris.


Minden-Tahoe Airport’s automated weather gauge is reading 28 degrees this morning as a new front makes its way into the West. While that’s a cold spot, temperatures across Carson Valley are in the 30s.


The weather roller coaster that is spring in Carson Valley continues today and Friday with a chance of rain after 2 a.m. and a snow level down to 6,300 feet on Friday.

Today’s forecast if for mostly sunny with the high hitting 64 degrees with the wind shifting west at 10-15 mph, gusting to 30 mph as the front arrives.
