Genoa, Nev. — Chains or four-wheel drive and snow tires are being required on Kingsbury Grade from the Daggett Pass Chain-Up Area down to Highway 50. It appears slushy up over the top around 6 a.m.  Chain controls are also in effect on highways 50 and 88 through the Sierra and on 89 from around Luther Pass to Meyers.  

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday for the Lake Tahoe basin above 6,500 feet. As of 6 a.m. today, I can’t tell there’s been much weather with precipitation limited to the mountains and foothills. Fredericksburg got a tenth of an inch of rain overnight.

The first meeting of the China Spring Youth Camp Advisory Board after approval of Douglas County’s new ordinance is 10:30 a.m. today. The group meets virtually. You can find out more at www.douglascountynv.gov

A lunchtime Saturday collision resulted in one person being transported to Renown Regional Medical Center and a vehicle on its top at Highway 395 and Ironwood.

The Weather Service is standing by its prediction of rain before lunchtime today.  I haven’t seen a drop all weekend, and even barbecued on Sunday because it was so mild out.

The snow level is at 6,800 feet and the temperature this morning is within 2 degrees of the forecast high of 46 degrees. The forecast calls for cloudy skies, rain and the wind shifting out of the north this afternoon at 5 mph.
