Genoa, Nev. — I’m betting there were at least 3,000 people in Genoa on Saturday for Western Heritage Days, which ended up closing Main Street a half hour early. The parade consisted of around a dozen entries.


East Fork Paramedic Chief Don Stangle’s service drew about 60 people to Minden Park on Saturday afternoon, including a bunch of folks from the old Engine Company No. 1.


The Douglas County Historical Society is asking the Genoa Historic District Commission for the OK to install a new sign at the Genoa Courthouse Museum.


It’s a busy night for historic district commissioners with requests for a fence and pole barn on Trimmer land and a hitching post along Main Street for Brendan Riley and Maggie Tracey. The commission meets 4:30 p.m. today in the Genoa Town Meeting Room.


East Fork firefighters responded to a smoldering fire around 12:44 p.m. Sunday out near Painted Rock above Johnson Lane. A presentation on evacuations, mainly from fire, is 5:30 p.m. today at Kahle Community Center in Stateline.


The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 67 degrees. The west wind will pick up to 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph. Temperatures at night will drop to right around freezing.
