Springtime is here, and that means golf season is, too. The longer daylight hours and warming temperatures provide a tempting invitation to those who like to play the links, and two upcoming benefit golf tournaments may offer additional inspiration.

Serving 13 counties and the Tahoe Basin, JOIN Inc. is a 501(c)(3) community organization dedicated to addressing workforce needs in urban and rural communities across Nevada (join.org). They provide “access to educational and occupational skills training for individuals seeking careers, financial stability, and personal success” and connect job seekers with open positions. They support employers by producing qualified candidates that are skilled and ready to work.

On May 17, JOIN Inc. hosts their 2nd annual “Swing Fore a Brighter Future” golf tournament at Genoa Lakes Golf Club, 1 Genoa Lakes Drive. All proceeds benefit JOIN’s ongoing programs, workshops, and mission to support career seekers and employers.

The final day for registration and payment is April 30. Visit join.org/wp-content/uploads/2024-Golf-Tourney-Brochure-V3-Fillable-1.pdf for the sponsorship/registration form and send via email to ljennings@join.org. Registration can also be completed online at join.org/golf2024/.

Rotary hosts Giving Cup

Rotary Club of Minden hosts their fourth annual “Giving Cup” golf tournament on May 18 at Genoa Lakes Golf Club.

Honoring their mission to serve and assist children at risk, Rotary Club of Minden has designated Me For Incredible Youth, Inc. as the primary beneficiary of this year’s tournament. Other local non-profit organizations will also share in event proceeds.

Founded by JoJo and Suzi Townsell in 1997, the MEFIYI Foundation (mefiyi.org/) promotes, encourages, and supports Nevada youth in areas of amateur athletics, recreation and education programs, soft-skills and workforce development, and physical fitness. They also offer scholarships to graduating seniors each spring.

The Giving Cup golf tournament features a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, a 19th Hole reception (non-golfers can attend), and both a live and silent auction. Visit the event website at rotary-giving-cup.perfectgolfevent.com/ and click the “Register Now” button for player packages and sponsorship opportunities.
