May shows put cars in Carson Valley

Car show season opens on May 4 with the 11th annual Holy Smoker BBQ & Car Show at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville.

Located across Douglas Avenue from the church, the entry fee is $25 with registration starting at 8 a.m.

Lunch is $15 a person and starts at 11:30 a.m., with pulled pork, beans, potato salad coleslaw and lemonade.

The following week, Big Mama’s Show & Shine is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 in Lampe Park.

The annual event benefits Young at Heart and features scores of vintage vehicles 45 years and older.

Retrospect is scheduled to perform live music at the event, which also features food, raffles and crafts.

Registration for the event closes on May 3. Registration before May 1 is $35. It goes up to $60 for the final days.
