The R-C Morning Report for Feb. 9
Genoa, Nev. — The East Fork of the Carson River rose high enough to send water into the low lying areas of Aspen Mobile Home Park in Gardnerville, but not as high as it was in January. No one has been evacuated, according to last report.
However, the rise came to within 2 feet of flood stage on the East Fork and raises the concern about what will happen today and Friday should snow levels continue to rise.
Workers digging up the water line on Romans Road in Indian Hills found a 20-foot stick of 12-inch pipe that had split. They’ll be digging that up today, which means no water for Sierra Lutheran High School again. No word from the school on whether they’ll try to open.
Today will feature both a high wind warning and a flood watch, so watch for white caps on the river. The wind warning starts at 6 a.m. and lasts through midnight with 35-40 mph southwest winds forecast, gusting to 75 mph.
Expect a 40 percent chance of rain today after 10 a.m. under cloudy skies. The high will hit 59 degrees.
