The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 23
After a frightening afternoon of lightning, it sounds like most of the fires are either out or being put out. I’m short information on some of the fires since the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch site went down not long after the lightning storm started.
East Fork Chief Tod Carlini said the district responded to several single tree strikes, the latest in the Topaz Lake area. Crews were still working that fire at 1 a.m.
The Voltaire Canyon fire hit 100 acres on Tuesday after a lightning strike shook southern Carson City.
Expect more of the same today after 11 a.m. Where it’s not storming it will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 88 degrees and winds 5-10 mph.
