The Feb. 12 R-C Snowing Report

Genoa, Nev. — It’s snowing in Genoa, and looks like it’s coming down across Carson Valley. The brand new Carson Valley traffic cameras across Douglas County’s lower elevations are all showing snow on the road.

Chain controls are in effect for Highway 395 south of Stephanie Way to Minden and from Jake’s Hill down to Holbrook. Thee re also chain controls on Highway 88 from Minden to the stateline, over Kingsbury Grade and on Highway 50 from Carson to Stateline.

The NHP is reporting 10 incidents, including four injury wrecks in Reno. I expect as the morning wears on we’ll start to pick up some of that traffic and the accompanying collisions.

We may see snow until around 10 a.m. this morning and then scattered snow showers. If the sun peeks out, we could see a high of 39 degrees with the wind out of the northwest at 5-10 mph. Accumulation will be less than an inch.
