The Dec. 21 R-C Morning Report

Genoa, Nev. — With $10.39 million in the bank, it appears the expansion of the North Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant is still short $1.2 million, according to a report that will be presented to Douglas County commissioners today. The low bid for the actual work was $9 million, nearly $500,000 higher than the engineer’s estimate.

The hiring of an employee to handle deputy’s body cams is also before commissioners at their Stateline meeting 1:30 p.m. today. Commissioners meet at the Tahoe Transportation Center. The total budget for body cameras, which are required by state law, is $393,000.

It looks like high pressure is going to settle in again, leaving Western Nevada high and dry through the end of the year.

Winter officially begins 8:28 a.m. today on the West Coast. It will look a lot like fall did. It’s 11 whole degrees out this morning, and don’t expect it to climb much past freezing under sunny skies. The wind will be calm until it picks up to 5 mph this afternoon.
