Yellow ball golf tournament held
Paul Lockwood, Tom Harlow, Joe Gibson and Ray Huntley won their yellow ball flight last Wednesday during Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Golf Club tournament play in Carson City.
They combined to card a net 121 at Empire Ranch Golf Course where team totals were determined by two scores for each hole — the yellow ball and the best ball of other team members. The yellow ball rotated though each team member after each hole. If the yellow ball was lost, then the team drops to the lower flight.
Ray McPartlin, Joe O’Brien, Ron Popp and Ed Cabello took second-place in the yellow flight with their 125. Tom Welton, Steve Isaacson and Nils Sharpe followed at 127. Bill Gibson, Dick Montoya, George Flamer and Steve Scharfe finished fourth at 127. Al Vernon, Adam Huber and Rich Bremenour finished fifth at 128.
The lost yellow ball flight-winning team of John Lewis, Nick Paul, John Masiello and Gary Mick shot 124. John Sullivan, Myron Carpenter and George Allison took second-place at 127. Chuck Bell, Bob Blom, Paul Weller and John Pearson finished third at 128.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Jim Shabi on Red No. 3, Bob White on Red No. 8, Dennis Justin on White No. 4 and Carl Slate on White No. 8.
