Wrestling: Cauley shines at Sparks Invite
Douglas High sophomore Sullivan Cauley continued his stellar wrestling season over the weekend, winning the 197-pound classification at the Sparks Invitational and earning Outstanding Wrestler – Upperweights honors in the process.
Cauley was dominant throughout the tournament, pinning all of his opponents on his way to the title – which marked his second of the year.
He posted pins of 47 seconds, 4:15 and 2:09 along the way. Cauley improved to 19-2 on the year with 14 pins.
Senior Nick Lufrano went 4-1 in the tournament with three pins to finish fifth at 220 pounds.
Zach Fiene went 3-2 with one pint at 132 pounds to take fifth as well.
Logan Ames (126 pounds) and Zach Singer (182) each went 2-3 with two pins to take sixth in their respective brackets.
Ian Kendrick picked up a pin in the 285 bracket and Seth Trivitt posted a pin at 170 pounds in his return from an injury.
Douglas next takes on Bishop Manogue in Reno in its first dual match since mid-December.
