Wolves lose to Huskies, 38-31
Despite a 16-point performance from Pawahnee Minder on Tuesday night, the Coleville High girls basketball team wound up on the short end of a 38-31 score at home against Mammoth.
The undefeated Mammoth Huskies (5-0) led 16-10 at halftime and 27-20 at the end of three quarters in a non-league matchup between Mono County opponents.
Minder, a 5-foot-7 sophomore, also had six steals and five rebounds for the Wolves. Priscilla Yanez led all scorers with 20 points for Mammoth.
Destiny Reese contributed five rebounds and Angel Armbruster three assists for the Wolves.
Coleville (2-6 overall) will be back in action on Jan. 6 to host Pyramid Lake in its Western 1A league season opener.
The Sierra Lutheran girls are scheduled to visit Loyalton, Calif., for a 3 p.m. non-league game today and then play at the Mountain View Christian tournament Monday through Wednesday in Las Vegas. Sierra Lutheran (3-1 overall) opens its Western 1A season on Jan. 6 at home against Mineral County.
