Western Nevada College

Carson High School hitter Lauren Knorzer has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Western Nevada College in 2012. A versatile player, Knorzer has been successful in multiple roles as CHS, and is expected to bring those skills to the Wildcats.

“Lauren has a strong arm and a powerful bat,” said Wildcats Head Coach Leah Wentworth. As a junior, she started 34 games for the Senators, batting .458 for 39 hits, 14 runs, 17 RBIs and 10 doubles. She has played throughout the infield, including first base, third base and shortstop.

The Wildcats softball team is in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association. As a member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, Western competes against College of Southern Idaho, College of Southern Nevada, Colorado Northwestern Community College, North Idaho College, Salt Lake Community College and Snow College.

The 2011 Wildcats begin play on February 11 in Salt Lake City. Their first home series is February 18-19 against Colorado Northwestern.
