Here is a breakdown on some Carson Valley high school athletes who have graduated from high school and now compete at the collegiate level, including two Douglas volleyball alums who enjoyed good performances on Wednesday night:

ERIN ALLISON — Marymount University (Arlington, Va.), 2011 Douglas graduate: The junior outside hitter had 10 kills (.350 hitting percentage), 8 digs and 3 assists to help Marymount defeat Frostburg State 3-1 (25-10, 17-25, 25-12, 25-22). Allison currently ranks seventh in the Capital Athletic Conference in kills with 165 and eighth in digs with 220.

EMILY GARCIA — Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), 2011 Douglas graduate: The junior middle blocker had 7 kills and 3 blocks as the Falcons extended their win streak to seven with a 3-1 win against Franklin Pierce University Wednesday in Northeast-10 Conference action. Garcia also had seven kills on Sunday in a 3-1 win over St. Michael’s College. Bentley’s record is now 10-4.


BETHANY WURSTER — University of Nevada, Reno, 2011 Douglas graduate: The junior shot 227 (75-76-76) and finished Sept. 22 with the 34th best individual score the to lead the Wolf Pack to 13th-place as a team at the Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico. Wurster was a three-time regional champion for Douglas. The Pack returns to action Monday through Wednesday at the Price’s “Give Em Five” Invitational hosted by New Mexico State’s in Las Cruces.


WADE MEDDLES — Eastern Kentucky University, 2010 Sierra Lutheran High School graduate: The senior ran 24:09 for 8 kilometers to finish 17th and help the Eastern Kentucky men’s team take second-place on Saturday at the University of Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. The Colonels came into the weekend ranked No. 11 in the country.

SADIE GASTELUM — California State University-Chico, 2012 Douglas graduate: The redshirt freshman was Chico’s No. 5 runner and 69th overall on Saturday in the collegiate women’s race at the Stanford Invitational.

Gastelum ran 23:18 for 6,000 meters.

ASPEN ABBOTT — Southern Oregon University (Ashland, Ore.), 2013 Douglas graduate: The freshman ran 24:50 for 6,000 meters to finish as the Raiders’ No. 5 runner and 166th in a field of 222.

ANDREW COBOURN — California State University-Chico, 2012 Douglas graduate: The redshirt freshman did not run at Stanford but is listed on the Chico men’s roster. Cobourn ran a personal best 5K time of 15:40 on the track last spring.


ALEXANDRA LAING — Concordia University (Irvine, Calif.), 2012 Douglas graduate: The sophomore had a shot on goal Wednesday in Concordia’s 5-0 win at home against Arizona Christian. Concordia is 6-0-2 overall and 1-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Laing previously attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she played soccer as a center midfield during the 2012 season.
