Dillon Spates (Douglas, ’11), fr., Waldorf College: Waldorf took fifth at the NAIA Central National Qualifier over the weekend.

Jessica Waggoner (Douglas, ’09), soph., F, Army: Army topped Holy Cross 65-62 on Wednesday. She had six points, four rebounds and an assist in the win.

Chris Downs (Douglas, ’11), fr., G, Butte College: Red-shirting. Butte closed out the year with wins over Redwoods, Lassen and Siskiyous.

Bri Burnside (Douglas, ’11), fr., F, College of the Siskiyous: Siskiyous beat Feather River 74-57 and Butte 84-39 last week. Burnside is averaging 5.5 points per game with 63 rebounds and 28 assists on the year.

Jorey Scott (Douglas, ’11), fr., F, Miramar College: Miramar beat San Diego Mesa 75-59 last week.

Devyn Hotho (Douglas ’11), fr., F, St. Olaf College: St. Olaf upset the No. 4 team in the country, Gustavus, 5-2 last weekend.

Haley Von Schottenstein (Douglas ’10), soph., Whittier: Whittier took fifth at the SCIAC Championships over the weekend. Von Schottenstein led a school-record-breaking 200 free relay squad (1:39.10) to a fifth-place finish and earned all-conference honors in the 50 free, finishing three-hundredths of a second out of first place. Her time of 23.93 broke the previous school record by seventh-tenths of a second. She also took third in the 100 breaststroke, turning in a time of 1:06.37, which broke a 10-year-old school record.

Grant Denny (Douglas, ’11), fr., Feather River: Feather River’s men’s team won the West Coast Regional on Feb. 17 and took second at Pomona on Feb. 18.

Chris Balcom-Miller (Douglas ’06), P, Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Double-A): Going through spring training. Balcom-Miller struck out 8.2 batters per nine innings last season. He is expected to start the season in Double-A Portland.

Jordan Hadlock (Douglas, ’08), sr., C, Cal Poly: The Mustangs swept Oklahoma State in three games over the weekend and fell to Santa Clara on Tuesday. Hadlock went 1-for-3 while starting behind the plate in a 6-0 win over Oklahoma State on Sunday.

Tyler Hoelzen (Douglas, ’09), jr., P, Sacramento State: The Hornets opened up 1-3. Hoelzen tossed an inning in relief, striking out three, walking none and allowing no hits.

Phil Mannelly (Douglas, ’07), sr., OF, Lynn (Fla.): Lynn lost a pair of games to Delta State and fell to St. Thomas. Mannelly has started three games, doubled once and driven in three runs.

Kyle Ford (Douglas, ’10), soph., C, Feather River: Ford has two RBIs on the season and has driven in a pair of runs.

Kameron Van Winkle (Douglas, ’11), fr., SS, Siskiyous: Van Winkle has played in every game and has a home run, a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Shane Fencl (Douglas, ’11), fr., SS, Feather River: Fencl has played in six games for the Golden Eagles and has a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Matt Thomas (Douglas, ’11), fr., P, Feather River: Thomas has pitched eight innings of relief with seven strikeouts, four walks and a 1.12 ERA.

Walker Gemmill (Douglas, ’11), fr., C, Lassen: Gemmill has played in 10 games and is batting .275 with a double and four RBIs.

Cody Lommori (Douglas, ’11), fr., 1B, American River: Lommori is batting .333 in nine games with 11 RBIs and two doubles.

Stephanie Harper (Douglas, ’09), jr., P/1B, Concord: Concord is 2-4. Harper has four singles on the year. She is carrying a 2.70 ERA in the circle with a 1-0 record.

Rebecca Nelson (Douglas), fr., 2B, Western Nevada: The Wildcats swept a three-game series from Colorado Northwestern over the weekend, improving to 4-3 on the year.
