Volleyball: CVMS spikers open season

The Carson Valley Middle School eighth-grade volleyball team has opened its season 4-1.

In a 25-23, 25-23 win over Carson, Ariah Barth had two aces and two kills. Layne Waggoner had eight service points, an ace and a kill. Mandy Weaver had three service points, Lexi Von Schottenstein had two kills and Caitlin Godde had two kills.

Carson Valley next defeated Alder Creek 25-15, 25-22, getting six service points, three aces and a kill from Godde. Von Schottenstein added nine service points, four aces and a kill, Sydne Huck had four service points, an ace and a kill and Delaney Jacobsen had five service points and an ace. Emily Schmidt had two kills, Shayla Gransbery had two kills and Barth had two kills.

In a 22-25, 25-22, 15-5 win over South Tahoe, the Tigers got 11 service points, two aces and two kills from Von Schottenstein. Waggoner had six service points and four aces and Schmidt had five service points, an ace and a kill. Emily Lawrence had five service points and a kill.

Kealy Moss had four service points, two aces and a kill. Jacobsen added three service points.

The Tigers beat Pau-Wa-Lu 25-13, 25-14 behind five service points, three aces and two kills from Godde, seven service points, six aces and a kill from Gransbery and 10 service points,

three aces and a kill from Schmidt. Huck had five service points, four aces and two kills, Corryne Millett had three service points and two aces, Von Schottenstein had two kills, Waggoner had two kills and Kaitlin Jones had two kills.

Carson Valley suffered its only defeat of the first half of the season in a 19-25, 25-27 loss to Eagle Valley. Huck had three service points and a kill, Barth had eight service points, four aces and three kills, Schmidt had five service points, three aces and a kill and Maddie Parks had three service points.

Carson Valley’s seventh-grade team is off to a 5-0 start.

They opened the year with a 25-14, 25-15 win over Carson Middle and followed that up with a 25-21, 25-9 win over Alder Creek. Maddie Lowe had seven service points, Shelby Patterson had nine service points, Johnnie Saletti had eight service points, Sarah Carter had three service points and Terra Williams had three service points.

Madison Ryan had 10 service points to help lead Carson Valley over South Tahoe 25-10, 25-15. Williams added seven service points and Aimee Santos had four.

In a 25-11, 25-16 win over Pau-Wa-Lu, Vanessa Blackwell had eight service points, Haleigh Garside had six, Bailey Gansberg had five and Santos and McKenna Kynett each added three.

Carson Valley also beat Eagle Valley 25-10, 15-25, 15-5, getting 15 service points from Makayla Shaver, five from Gansberg and three from Kynett.
