Tigers thump Oakland Tech
Coming off another tough game against one of the nation’s top teams, the Douglas Tigers rebounded with an impressive 74-65 win against Oakland Tech Thursday afternoon at the George Maldonado Classic at Galena High School.
Douglas dropped a 92-67 decision Wednesday to Modesto Christian, currently ranked No. 3 in the western region. Modesto boasted three Division I prospects in its starting lineup, two of whom have already signed with top-tier schools.
Douglas’ Keith Olson scored 16 points to lead the Tigers in that game.
On Thursday, Douglas made a complete turnaround, settling into a steady rhythm on offense and making some impressive runs in transition to beat Oakland Tech.
“I liked our defensive effort a lot better than what we have been getting,” Douglas coach Rob Streeter said. “We spread the floor well today. They’re finding those extra passes and finishing well.”
Olson scored 25 points and had 15 rebounds to go with three blocks. He had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds by the end of the first half.
The Tigers had four of its starters finish in double figures, representing the team’s most balanced scoring effort so far this season.
Jeff Nady’s scored 14 points and had eight rebounds. Jordan Hadlock scored 12 points and Mike Gransbery scored 10.
Nine of Douglas’ 12 players put points on the board in the game.
Douglas dropped a 63-49 decision to Orem, Utah Saturday. Olson had 14 points.
