Tigers rip the ‘Wave
Douglas sophomore Britney Christen got the Tigers going with a goal 30 seconds into their game with the Fallon Greenwave on Tuesday at DHS.
In the 79 minutes that followed, five different Douglas players scored goals as the Tigers cruised to a 7-0 victory.
“We have the ability to score goals, but we haven’t been able to do that until (Tuesday),” Douglas coach Fred Schmidt said. “When you have six or seven players score in a game, that’s always encouraging.”
Andrea Chaney took an assist from Amber Gwinn and scored the Tigers’ second goal in the eighth minute.
Senior Abby Aldrich, who had been slowed by an ankle injury, found the net for the first time this season and gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead off a cross from Becci Nealy.
Tracey Hawks then scored back-to-back goals to give Douglas a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Gwinn scored the Tigers’ sixth goal early in the second half. She also finished the game with two assists.
Karen Lucas wrapped up the scoring with the final goal midway through the second half.
