Douglas High’s Hunter Langford and Aspen Smokey both showed improvement Wednesday when they closed out the Northern 4A Region Girls Golf Tournament.

Both Tigers carded scores of 102 during the second round of the tournament held at Washoe County Golf Course in Reno.

Langford, a senior, finished strong as she carded par scores on the 13th, 16th and 18th holes. She shot 110 Tuesday during the first round at Genoa Lakes’ Ranch Course and finished with a 212 total, tied for 27th-place on the individual leader board.

Smokey, a freshman, shot 120 on Tuesday at the Ranch Course and finished at 222 overall. She shot par on the fourth and fifth holes Wednesday.

The top two teams and five individuals from non-qualifying teams qualified for the NIAA 4A state tournament Monday and Tuesday at Eagle Valley West in Carson City.

Reno’s Abbi Fleiner rallied from fourth-place on Wednesday to win the individual title at 156 (80-76), one shot ahead of Emma Gilmore from Spanish Springs. Fleiner shot 38 for both the front and back 9 during her final round, highlighted by birdies on Nos. 10 and 11.
