Tiger golf takes fifth at home match

After two consecutive weeks taking third place at league meets, the Douglas boys’ golf team stumbled slightly at its home tournament Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers shot a team 476 to take fifth place while Reno’s Jared Bacher led the charge with a tournament-low 75 to lead the Huskies to a first-place finish at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort, the former Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch.

Douglas freshman Troy Shields led the Tigers with a 91 on the par 72 course. He was followed by senior Skylar McNabb, who shot a 94.

Jeremy Henningsen and Pat Sergott each shot a 96 and Sam Sourikoff rounded out the card for the Tigers with a 99.

Carson took second as a team with a score of 420, South Tahoe took third with a 432 and North Valleys finished fourth with a 460.

Douglas wraps up the regular season at South Tahoe Tuesday.
