Staff Reports

Minden product Tanner Thorson recently clinched his second straight USAC National Midget Driver of the Year award.

Thorson, 20, is only the seventh driver to earn back-to-back National Midget Driver of the Year honors. Thorson clinched his title with a second-place finish at the Jason Leffler Memorial at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill. Thorson will receive his Driver of the Year award on Jan. 14, 2017 at the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. He is scheduled to race again on Nov. 24 at the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura Raceway in Southern Calif, (an event he won in 2015). Visit for additional updates.
