Carson Valley Little League will hold an election of board officers Monday at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.

The board meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Patterson wins CVGC tournament

One shot was the difference Sunday when Dennis Patterson emerged as the Flight A winner during Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club individual stroke play. Patterson shot a net 69 to edge Jeff Schreiber for first-place at the Carson Valley Golf Course. Schreiber finished second with his 70 and Marc Menezes took third at 71.

In Flight B, Charles Poe carded a 68 to capture a one-shot win over Fred Coons, who finished at 69, while David Morris finished third at 71.

Bruce Sanford won Flight C as he carded a score of 68, one shot better than Neil Bain’s 69. Gary Carsten finished third in the flight at 78.

Chuck Householder won Flight D with his 65, ahead of Augie Martinez with a score of 67 and Larry Lockwood at 70.

Closest-to-the-pin winners included Brian Burchet on the first hole and Bain on No. 18.

Scharfe wins at Empire Ranch

Steve Scharfe shot a net 64 to win Flight A at the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club stroke play event on Sept. 30.

Dennis Justin finished second in the flight at 65 and Tom Welton was third with his 66 at Empire Ranch Golf Course.

Robey Willis won Flight B with a 62, three shots better than Henry Teague and four shots better than Nick Paul.

Ken Cuneo won Flight C with a 61, three shots ahead of Rich Bremenour.

Tom Harlow won Flight D with a 64, a shot better than Peter Youngdahl and three ahead of Steve Isaacson. Paul Lockwood and Bob White both carded scores of 70.

Golf tourney at CVGC

The annual Oktoberfest Golf Tournament is set for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Carson Valley Golf Course.

The cost is $40 which includes golf, cart, lunch and beer.

Douglas-Carson flag football game on Oct. 17

The inaugural Army-Navy football game featuring the Douglas and Carson high school JROTC programs will be held on Oct. 17 in Minden.

A 1 p.m. kickoff at Keith Roman Field is scheduled for a flag football game that is serving as a fundraiser for the Douglas Army Tigers and Carson Navy Senators JROTC programs.

Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. Concessions will be sold at the game.

Shotokan at Pulse Fitness

The Carson Valley and Tahoe Shotokan Karate dojos will host a combined practice and demonstration on Oct. 24 at Pulse Fitness Gym in Minden.

Anyone is welcome to watch the practice and demonstration starting at 1 p.m. at Pulse Fitness, Mahogany Drive.

Shotokan classes are regularly held at Pulse 7:15-8:45 p.m. on Mondays and 6:45-8:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Jacobo fundraiser Oct. 25

A spaghetti feed fundraiser to assist Carson Valley resident Steven Jacobo in his bid to train for the USA Paralympics bobsled team in 2015-16 is Oct. 25 at Flight Restaurant & Bar.

The event, scheduled to be held 4-7 p.m., will include a video presentation by Jacobo and silent auction. The cost for the spaghetti feed is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Jacobo, 25, earned a spot on the U.S. Adaptive Bobsled and Skeleton Association roster last year.
