The annual Fore The Kids charity golf tournament will be held on Saturday at The Ranch Course at Genoa Lakes.

Proceeds benefit programs that youth and their families need and access each year. Money also supports the Douglas County Sheriff Explorer’s youth programs and the Carson Valley Medical Center.

CORE Construction is the event’s presenting sponsor, and Starbucks, Western Nevada Supply, Pro Group Management, Michael Hohl Automotive and Continuum Packing Solutions are title sponsors.

Tigers football raising funds

Douglas High’s football program has launched its annual sale of “Tiger Discount Cards.”

The sale, which continues through May 25, raises funds for the Douglas varsity, JV and freshmen football teams.

The cost of the discount card is $15 and can be used at various businesses around the community.

Pemberton wins in men’s club play

Bob Pemberton carded a net 73 to win Flight A on Sunday during Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club tournament play at the Carson Valley Golf Course.

Pemberton outdistanced Kenny Smitreski, who finished with a 76, to take first-place during the individual stroke play event. Jack Sparman was third at 78.

Flight B was won by Charles Poe with his 67, ahead of Mike Davis at 70 and Augie Martinez at 71.

Chris Willing shot 65 to take first-place in Flight C, ahead of John Pearson at 70 and Jack Zippwald at 73.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Martinez on the first hole and Neil Notley on No. 18.

Alexander Clinic at Eagle Valley

The 25th annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic is scheduled to be held on May 21 at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City.

The free golf clinic is for kids from 6 to 17 and their families. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m., and the clinic gets underway at 11:45 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m.
