Empire Ranch senior golf memberships open

Staff Reports

Memberships are now available for the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Golf Club 2016 season.

Applications may be obtained at the Empire Ranch Pro Shop at 1876 Fair Way, Carson City.

Members must be at least 55 years old to join.

The club has scheduled 34 weekly tournaments on Wednesday mornings, of which eight are played at other local area golf courses. The first tournament is March 9.

All tournaments are separated into flights and handicappers, giving players an equal chance to win.

The club dues of $50 includes 2016 Northern Nevada Golf Association membership. The club has enjoyed many successful seasons and we are expecting 2016 to be another banner year. Call 885-2100 for information.

Estes to speak at dinner

Shawn Estes will give the keynote talk on Feb. 6 during a dinner and auction to benefit Carson Valley baseball and softball programs at the CVIC Hall.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds benefit Carson Valley Little League, Carson Valley Girls Fastpitch Association, plus the Douglas High School baseball and softball programs.

Estes is a 1991 Douglas High School graduate who moved on to pitch in the majors between 1995-2008.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids 18 and younger. Tickets are available at Line Drive University and through the high school baseball and softball programs.

Call 267-3331 for more information on the dinner.
