Elks Hoop Shoot to be held Jan. 11
The Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge 2670 will hold its annual Hoop Shoot contest for girls and boys on Jan. 11, 2015 at the Douglas County Community Center gymnasium.
The Sunday contest is set for a 2 p.m. start and open to students ages 8 to 13 years old as of April 1, 2015.
Tennis shoes are mandatory to be worn on the gym floor.
Winners in each of the three age categories will be eligible to compete at the District Hoop Shoot Finals in Reno on Jan. 17. The state finals will be held in Hawthorne on Feb. 7.
The Elks National Championship Contest will be held in Springfield, Mass. on April 16-19.

MEFIYI Sports Bash Dec. 29-31
Me-for-Incredible-Youth, Inc. (MEFIYI) will host its Winter Break Sports Bash sports camps for girls and boys ages 6-16 on Dec. 29-31 at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center.
Instruction in basketball, volleyball and speed-track will be available on each of the three days.
The basketball sessions will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, the volleyball sessions from 1-3 p.m. and speed-track sessions from 1-3 p.m.
JoJo Townsell and Suzi Townsell are directing the event. Guest instructors will include Douglas High School coaches and student-athletes.
