For the second time in three weeks, Silver Strike Lanes in the Gardnerville Ranchos has had a perfect game.
Jonathan Smith of the Silver Strikers League bowled a perfect 300 game on April 18.
Grand Slam 5K/10K
The Carson Capitals baseball program will host its Grand Slam 5K and 10K runs Sunday at El Charro Avita in Carson City, beginning at 10 a.m.
Cost is $30 and $35 on race day. Cost for children ages 5-14 is $15.
A buffet lunch will be provided for the runners at El Charro following the race. Cost is $10 for nonrunners. A water bottle is included in the race fee as well.

Adult baseball sign-ups open
The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department Baseball League early registration is open.
Cost is $1,000 per team. Registration deadline is today. Payment is required at the time of registration.
Games will be Sundays at Lampe Park starting May 12 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The league includes a minimum of 10 games with the top four teams advancing to a single elimination tournament. An award will be given to tournament winners. Players must be at least 18 years old.

Bowling leagues available
Silver Strike Lanes in the Gardnerville Ranchos is accepting sign-ups for a number of leagues starting up this spring and summer.
Cost, ages and nights vary.

Silver Strike Lanes is participating in the Free Bowling Summer Fun program for the third consecutive summer. Starting May 1 and running through Aug. 31, parents can register their children ages 15 and younger for up to two free games of bowling every day.
Sign-up information will be distributed to most Douglas County elementary schools before the school year is over.

AYSO soccer sign-ups
Carson Valley AYSO will conduct sign-ups for the 2013 fall season May 4 and May 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station No. 2 in Gardnerville at 1255 Highway 395 and June 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lampe Park Pavilion in Gardnerville.

Players must bring an original birth certificate and two copies of the online registration form. Player registration fees are $55 for U5, $65 for U6 and $75 for U8 and up.

Life Bowling Night
Silver Strike Lanes and the No Place Like Home Senior Care will host a Life Bowling Night fundraiser to raise funds for cancer research.
The event will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. from at Silver Strike Lanes.
Cost is $10 per ticket and includes three games and one shoe rental.
Fifty percent of all tickets sold go to Douglas County Relay for Life.
Tickets can be picked up in advance at No Place Like Home at 1394 Highway 395 N. in Gardnerville or at Silver Strike Lanes during the event.
Mike Biaggini Run to Remember 5K
The Mike Biaggini Run to Remember Honor Guard 5K will be May 11 at 9 a.m., starting at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office parking lot, continuing out along Buckeye Road and finishing back at the sheriff's office.
Cost is $20 for runners and walkers, $15 for seniors 55 and over and free for children 12 and under. T-shirts are available for $10.
The event is not timed. Medals will be presented for all participants.

Derby volunteers needed
The annual Kids' Fishing Derby, set for June 1-2 at Lampe Park, is seeking volunteers to help with this year's edition.
Volunteers are needed to help set up, tear down, register, assist on the river, clean fish and other tasks beginning May 29 and continuing through June 2.
Anyone interested in volunteering can pick up a volunteer form at the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department and mail it in.
Registration forms are also available at The Tack Room in Gardnerville, or at Raley's every Saturday in April and May from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All volunteers must attend one of the following volunteer meetings at the Lampe Park Pavilion: May 18, 9 a.m.; May 22, 6 p.m. or May 29, 6 p.m.

24th annual Kids Fishing Derby
The 24th annual Kids Fishing Derby is set for June 1 and 2 at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
The derby is open to kids ages 3-12, and family activities and concessions will be available. Tickets are free, but all participants must pre-register to receive a ticket.
Derby hats, T-shirts and other re-sale items will be available for purchase. Raffle tickets are available for $1 each or six for $5. Grand prizes include a 2-seater go-kart and a Traeger pellet grill. All proceeds go back into the derby.
Registration forms, for mail-in only, are available at the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department.
Registration and session tickets will be available every Saturday in April and May from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gardnerville Raley's. Registration is also available at The Tack Room, 1504 Highway 395, Unit 10, during business hours.
The fourth fishing session on June 1 begins at 2:30 p.m. and is reserved for special needs fishermen.

Douglas football alumni golf tournament
The second annual Douglas High School Football Alumni Golf Tournament will be June 22 at the Carson Valley Golf Course.
All alumni players, coaches and family are welcome to participate.
A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per foursome. Cost after May 1 is $125.
Hole sponsorships are available as well for $100 per hole.
Dinner at the Carson Valley Country Club is provided as part of the tournament and includes pulled pork, chicken, beans, salad and soft drinks. All participants receive a golf towel.
