Skiing: Tigers take 5th at Alpine Meadows, Heavenly races
The Douglas High School ski team finished fifth at Alpine Meadows in a Tahoe Basin Ski League giant slalom race Thursday.
Both the Douglas boys’ and girls’ teams took fifth in their respective races, leading to the overall fifth. North Tahoe was first overall (boys third and girls first) followed by South Tahoe, Truckee and Whittell.
Carson finished sixth and Incline was seventh.
Ty Cottrill led the Tiger boys with an eighth-place finish, finishing his two runs in a combined 1:04.51.
Grant Dunkelman finished 22nd (1:08.73), Roy Reagan was 30th (1:12.48) and Jon Pelcher finished 32nd (1:13.56).
Eric Kleiner (1:15.56), Bradley Losbough (1:15.59) and Ben Meyer (1:16.23) went 36th through 39th respectively and Logan Lalonde finished 40th in 1:18.97.
On the girls’ side, Sam Crawford (1:12.04) took 19th, Tess Laub (1:17.21) took 25th, Elissa Galvez (1:20.62) was 27th and Michelle Schilling (1:23.13) was 31st.
Kate Hill (1:24.24) took 33rd, Dakota Boisseau was 37th (1:33.99), Lindsey Adams finished 39th (1:35.57) and Holland Chambers was 40th (1:36.28).
In the JV race, Logan Killion finished 24th, Sam Wilson took 25th and Cole Pinther was 26th.
On Monday, Douglas again took fifth, this time in a slalom race at Heavenly.
The boys’ team finished fourth and the girls finished sixth.
Cottrill was ninth, Dunkelman was 10th, Loshbough was 17th, Ryan Kochen was 19th, Kleiner was 20th and Pelcher was 23rd.
Schilling led the girls’ team in 26th, Hill was 27th, Galvez was 32nd, Kelsey Lalonde finished 35th and Adams was 36th.
In the JV race, Ben Meyer was 13th, Logan Lalonde was 15th, Logan Killion was 16th, Sam Wilson was 18th and Casey Shaffer was 21st.
