Sisters Mackenzie, left, and Madi Peters celebrate after the Reno Heat went 6-0 to capture the 18U NSA Western World Series at Shadow Mountain Park last Saturday in Sparks. Mackenzie was sidelined with a knee injury, however, Madi enjoyed a noteworthy performance in which she slammed a three-run homer in the semifinals and then went 2-for-3 with two doubles off the fence in the championship game. Madi also earned credit for a win in an earlier game when she came on to pitch the final inning and then the Heat rallied in the bottom half of the inning. The Heat finished their season with a 32-3 overall record. Mackenzie is entering her senior year at Douglas High School and Madi is moving on to Western Nevada College, where she plans to pursue her goal to become an educator.
