Sickler, Adams run to repeat titles
Tyler Sickler and Lindsey Adams returned to defend their men’s and women’s 5K titles Saturday at the ninth annual Carson Valley Days Walk, Jog, Run.
Sickler, of Sacramento, ran 17 minutes, 18 seconds to lead a field of 133 runners and walkers over the 5-kilometer route on Highway 395 that finished at Lampe Park. The event was hosted by the Partnership of Community Resources as a fundraiser to organize teen summer workshops.
Adams, a 2015 Douglas High graduate who now runs at the University of Nevada, was the first woman and second overall finisher in 19:11.
Marissa Cowan finished second behind Adams in the women’s 18-29 age group with a time of 21:51.
Eric Jacobs took first-place in the boys 13-17 age group with a time of 20:00.
Chris Crawforth was the first masters runner in 21:39, good for first-place in the men’s 40-49 age group, followed by Tom Gregory in 22:32. Jeff Gorden took first-place in the men’s 50-59 category in 22:31.
Addison Gregory was the fastest of the youth girls age groups with a time of 23:25 that was good for first-place in the 13-17 division.
