Schreibers win flight in men’s club finale

Jeff Schreiber and Gary Schreiber won Flight A Sunday during the final Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club of 2016.

The Schreibers combined to shoot a net 61, one shot ahead of Dan Essary and Jack Sparman in the two-man scramble event held at Carson Valley Golf Course.

Gerry Paulson and Joe Morrison won Flight B at 62, one shot ahead of Jim Arens and Bruce Sanford.

Neil Bain and John Guidicatti won Flight C with their 61, one shot ahead of Gerry Bing and Brent Holderman.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Schreiber on No. 1 and Bain on No. 13.

This tournament was followed by a dinner for the members at the Country Club Restaurant.

Douglas, Carson staff basketball tonight

A different twist to the Douglas vs. Carson high school rivalry will be on display tonight when the second annual Staff Charity Basketball Game is played in Carson City.

Staff members from the two schools are playing in a game billed as “Rivalry with Heart” to raise funds for the American Heart Association.

The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Carson High’s Morse Burley Gymnasium.

Winter baseball camp hosted by CSI

The 34th annual College of Southern Idaho Winter Baseball Camp will be held on Dec. 27-29 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The camp will be held on campus at CSI’s indoor facility. Instruction will combine hitting, fielding, pitching and catching. The staff of coaches includes Nick Aiello, who formerly played for the Nevada Wolf Pack and was drafted in 2001 by the Tampa Bay Rays.
