Here is a breakdown on Carson Valley athletes who have graduated from high school and now compete in college:


SHAENA ROBINSON — Marshalltown Community College (Marshalltown, Ia.), 2016 Douglas graduate: Robinson had another big day at the plate on Monday when she hit a two-run homer to help the Tigers post a 9-8 win in game one of a double header at home against Ellsworth. On Thursday, Robinson went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in a 4-3 win over Iowa Lakes. Robinson leads the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference in hitting (.596), home runs (nine) and RBI (26).

KAITLYN BOWMAN — Iowa Lakes Community College, 2016 Douglas graduate: Bowman has compiled a 2-2 record so far this season for the Lakers, including a four-inning performance in which she allowed no runs on two hits to earn credit for a 9-2 win over Rowan College on March 12. The left-hander also absorbed the loss against Marshalltown and allowed a home run by her former Douglas teammate, Robinson. Bowman has pitched 14 innings in five appearances this season.

ALLISON MEYER — George Fox University (Newberg, Ore.), 2016 Douglas graduate: Meyer hit an inside-the-park, three-run homer to ignite a five-run third inning that boosted the Bruins to an 11-4 Sunday in game two of a double header against Puget Sound. Meyer went 2-for-4 in the game.

KELLY SONNEMANN — Humboldt State University, 2014 Douglas graduate: Sonnemann hit 1-for-4 with a double in a 6-3 win Saturday in game two of a double header at Cal State San Bernardino.


KALEB FOSTER — University of Nevada, 2015 Douglas graduate: Foster hit 1-for-4 last Friday during the Wolf Pack’s 6-5 Mountain West loss in 12 innings against San Jose State at Municipal Stadium in San Jose. Foster hit a two-run single up the middle in the eighth inning when Nevada rallied to tie the score at 5-all and send the game to extra innings. The Wolf Pack host Air Force in a three-game series that starts today at 4 p.m. at Peccole Park. The games on Saturday and Sunday start at 1 p.m.

DALTON GRISELL — West Virginia Tech, 2014 Douglas graduate: Grisell came on in relief to pitch three scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a 2-1 loss Tuesday at the University of Charleston. The left-hander is 0-1 for the season with a 1.62 ERA in 10 appearances this season.


SADIE GASTELUM — Chico State University, 2012 Douglas graduate: Gastelum ran to personal record times in the 1,500 meters, placing fourth with a 4:40.63 effort, and the 800, placing seventh in 2:23.38, on March 10 at Chico State’s Wildcat Invitational.

ASPEN ABBOTT — Southern Oregon University (Ashland, Ore.), 2013 Douglas graduate: Abbott ran 2:18.33 in the 800 meters last Saturday at Sacramento State’s Hornet Invitational.

MADISON COTE — University of Pacific (Stockton, Calif.), 2016 Douglas graduate: Cote ran 5:22.91 for 1,500 meters on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational.
