Staff Reports

RENO – Sophomore outfielder Brittany Puzey was named to the All-West Region second team, the National Fastpitch Coach’s Association (NFCA) announced Wednesday.

Puzey is the first player in Nevada softball history to be named to the All-West Region Team.

Puzey, a Douglas High graduate, ended her sophomore season first on the team in several categories including, slugging percentage (.665), total bases (113), RBI (52), runs scored (33), doubles (18) and home runs (13).

Puzey finished the year third on the team in batting average, with a .329 average and was one of just two players to start all 59 games for the Pack.

She also set single-season program marks for slugging percentage, total bases, RBI, homeruns and tied the single-season record for doubles.

Puzey was also named to the All-WAC first team at last week’s Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Fresno.
