Probe continues into Fernley deaths
Fernley residents were told Tuesday they should lock their doors and windows and report any suspicious activity after four bodies were found in two homes in the northern Lyon County town.
A fifth body was discovered near the Mustang exit on Interstate 80 near a vehicle that belonged at one of the homes on Monday, connecting all five deaths.
Three of the victims were identified on Tuesday as Robert and Dorothy Pape, both 84, who died inside their Jessica Lane home. Also identified was Angie Duff, 67, who died inside the Tamsen Lane house. Lyon investigators are seeking next of kin for the man found dead at Duff’s address. Deputies say a truck found near the body of the 55-year-old man found dead at Mustang belonged to the Papes.
Autopsies on all five people were conducted Tuesday, Lyon County Sheriff Allen Veil said at a press conference. He told reporters that cause of death would be determined at the autopsy.
Jeremiah Bean, 25, was taken into custody on a burglary charge. Veil said Bean had property that had been linked to one of the homes where the bodies were found. Bean is being held on $50,000 bail on two burglary charges.
A fire at one of the Fernley homes was reported at 6 a.m. Monday. The body at Mustang was found two hours later.
The other two bodies were found during a check on the homes’s occupants.
