Tyler Cottrill leads Douglas ski team

Staff Reports

Tyler Cottrill advanced to the quarterfinals Tuesday to help Douglas High School capture fourth-place in both the combined and boys teams standings during a Tahoe Basin Ski League dual slalom race at Alpine Meadows.

Cottrill, a senior, advanced to the round-of-eight before he was knocked out of the competition. Grant Dunkelman, Brad Loshbough and freshman Danner Hillman also qualified for the bracket-of-32 racers, however, all lost their first-round head-to-head matchups.

On the girls side, Douglas had six racers qualify for the bracket-of-32 — Kate Hill, Tara Cottrill, Katya Koepsel, Tess Laub, Caro Wilbur and Sage Pintler — but all lost their first-round races.

Douglas produced three medalists in the junior varsity girls race — Rachel Murphey, Audrey Muller and Shaelin Morefield. Murphey secured a third-place medal while Morefield placed fourth.

The Tigers return to action on Jan. 29 when another league dual slalom event is held at Heavenly.
