Trio pace Falcons to league victory

Jared Hamilton, Michael Patrick and Nick Walker combined to score 59 points Tuesday night for the Sierra Lutheran High School boys basketball team in its 70-58 victory against Excel Christian in Sparks.

Sierra Lutheran (3-1 overall) led 32-31 at halftime then used a 21-14 third-quarter run to open up some breathing room in the Western Division IV opener for both teams.

Hamilton scored 21 points, Patrick 20 and Walker 18 to lead the Falcons offensively. Hamilton also contributed 8 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals for the Falcons.

A.J. McCauley, a 6-foot-4 senior, led all scorers with 31 points for Excel Christian (0-3). McCauley shot 12-for-15 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free throw line for the Warriors.

The Falcons travel to Tonopah on Saturday for a non-league contest.


The Sierra Lutheran junior varsity boys defeated Excel Christian, 45-34.


The Sierra Lutheran freshman boys team won its first ever game on Tuesday by a 51-35 score against Squaw Valley Academy.

Tyler Waite scored 10 points to lead the Falcons, while Steve Flanagan added 8 and Jake Cummings 7.
