Tigers shoot down Lakers
Dalton Davis had 10 points and 10 rebounds to help the Douglas High boys basketball team to a 67-34 win over North Tahoe Friday during the 12th annual Wild West Shootout hosted by Bishop Manogue in Reno.
Michael Johnson scored 13, including three 3-pointers, and James Perry added 12 with a pair of 3-pointers as Douglas improved to 2-1.
On Thursday, the Tigers dropped a 62-50 decision to defending tournament champion Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.).
Johnson scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Tanner Williams 11 to lead Douglas offensively.
The Marauders took a 13-7 first-quarter lead and extended their advantage to 36-20 at halftime.
Douglas faces Saint Mary’s of Stockton today at 1 p.m. in the tournament’s third-place game.
Note: Funds raised through the Wild West Shootout benefit families with an autistic child attending the UNR Early Childhood Autism Program, which specializes in early intensive treatment for young children with autism.
Faith Lutheran defeated Douglas 56-27 Thursday during the opening day of action at the High Sierra Classic at Reno High School.
Sam Caruth scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Faith Lutheran (6-1), which led 15-8 after one quarter and 33-14 at halftime against Douglas (0-2).
The Crusaders were the Division I-A state tournament runner-up last season.
Douglas came back on Friday to face Bella Vista (Fair Oaks, Calif.).
