Both the Douglas High School boys and girls basketball teams will have little time to celebrate Christmas this weekend since they play games today in San Diego. The boys are entered in the 25th annual Under Armour Holiday Classic and the girls in the Southern California Holiday Prep Classic.

The Tigers’ boys (2-2 league, 3-7 overall) are entered in the Under Armor tournament’s “Senators Division” and open in tonight’s featured game against Santa Fe Christian (6-3) on its home court in Solana Beach, Calif. They play again Saturday against either Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) or Great Oak (Temecula, Calif.).

The Under Armour tournament will feature a national field of 75-plus teams that will play at five high schools.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ girls (3-1 league, 8-1 overall) are entered in the “NCAA Division” and scheduled to play three California teams starting tonight with an 8 p.m. game against Folsom (8-2) at Francis Parker High School.

They face Ramona (5-5) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Valhalla High School and then take on Olympian (4-3) on Monday at 5 p.m. at Mount Miguel High School.

A total of 71 teams from Nevada, California, Texas, Kentucky, Arizona, Washington and Canada are playing in the tournament.
