Tigers return to track
The Douglas High track and field team will compete at the Stanford Invitational today and Saturday as well as McQueen’s Northwest Invitational Saturday in Reno.
While the majority of the team is at McQueen, Marshall McKown and Lindsey Adams will represent Douglas at the prestigious Stanford invite. Adams is entered in the high school girls 3,000 meters race this afternoon while McKown is entered in the high school boys discus and shot put on Saturday. McKown’s season best of 171-5 in the discus currently ranks No. 2 in Nevada, according to the Athletic.com website.
One other local athlete, Wade Meddles of Minden, is entered in the collegiate men’s 5,000 meters tonight. Meddles now runs for Eastern Kentucky University.
Last Friday, Douglas sent a contingent of athletes to the Sierra League Frosh-Soph Invitational hosted by Galena high in Reno.
Cade Pankey ran 12.86 to place third in the boys 100 and went 19-5 to place second in the long jump.
Douglas won the boys 4×100 and 4×400 relay races in 47.89 and 3:49.10. Bryson Williams placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in a time of 20.03 to provide another highlight for the Tigers.
