The Douglas High volleyball team came up a little short Tuesday night when it dropped a 3-2 decision against Sierra League foe Wooster in Reno.
Wooster (2-1) won by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-5 against the Tigers (0-3 league, 14-6 overall).
Douglas had some individual bright spots, including a triple-double from sr. setter Shelby Van Winkle, who contributed 20 assists, 11 digs and 11 service points. Senior libero Madeline Strauss also had a double-double with 14 digs and 10 service points.
Ariah Barth had a team-high 13 kills, while Katie McCullough and Kristina Barnum had 10 each.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Eleven different players contributed kills as the Douglas JV club remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win against Wooster. The scores were 25-11, 25-15.
Douglas (3-0 league, 9-0 overall) was coming off a championship last Saturday at the Rail City Tournament.
FRESHMEN
Douglas also prevailed in the freshman match, 2-0. The scores were 25-11, 25-21.
The Tigers improved their season record to 8-2 overall, 2-1 in league.
