Softball: Douglas, Reed tied after 13 innings, will finish on Thursday
The Douglas and Reed High School softball teams battled through 13 innings Tuesday afternoon in Sparks and neither team was willing to give in.
The game was called on account of darkness with the scored knotted at 4, and the game was concluded in Minden on Thursday.
Douglas freshman Kaitlyn Bowman pitched all 13 inning for Douglas and Reed’s Jacquelin Sertic pitched all 13 for her squad.
Douglas went up 1-0 in the first and 3-2 after three innings. The Lady Tigers never trailed in the game, but Reed managed to tie it up at three in the bottom of the fifth. The two teams then went scoreless over the next seven innings before each team scratched a run across in the 13th.
The Douglas junior varsity squad prevailed over Reed 6-3 Tuesday afternoon.
Morgan Gunnell had two doubles and three RBIs, Layne Waggoner had a pair of singles and an RBI and also pitched a complete game with two strikeouts.
Mari Pimental, Lara Brown, Savannah Allmett and Shaena Robinson each added a hit.
