Second half surge lifts Tigers to win
Four second-half goals enabled the Douglas High girls soccer team to pull away for a 6-2 Senior Night victory against Wooster on Tuesday at Keith Roman Field.
Douglas (8-2-1 league, 10-3-2 overall) remained in the hunt for first-place in the Sierra League race with its second straight win. It also gave the Tigers a measure of redemption after they settled for a 2-2 tie at Wooster (2-8-2) on Sept. 26.
McKenna Kynett scored three goals and assisted on another to lead Douglas. The senior forward scored in the 14th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, then put the game away when she scored on a penalty kick in the 69th minute and then added a goal in the 70th minute that was assisted by Sydney Woodward.
Kassidy Ward scored in the 44th minute and freshman Alexa Moss scored in the 57th minute, assisted by Kynett.
Douglas returns to action Saturday with a home game against Galena.
