The fall sports teams at Douglas High School will be holding voluntary conditioning sessions throughout the summer.

Athletes need to have completed the school’s clearance process in order to participate in the workouts.

Clearance information and forms are available on the school’s Web site — — on the “Athletics & Clubs” page under the “Clearance Information” tab on the left.

A drug & alcohol policy presentation will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the high school commons.

Voluntary workouts are set for July 9-12 at 2 p.m. at Douglas High and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the same time through the remainder of the month.

The same schedule holds through Aug. 9.

Practice opens Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the high school, with final tryouts conducted Aug. 19 and 20 at 3 p.m.

Junior varsity will go every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45 to 5 p.m. at the football field starting June 24 and running through July 25.

The freshman team will go Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at the high school starting June 24 and running through Aug. 1.

Participants are encouraged to bring water and wear orange, black, white or gray shirts and shorts. Bring black cleats (with the majority black, but can have orange, white or gray on them). For more information on the freshman squad, e-mail coach J.P. Albert at

The first day of official practice for all levels is Aug. 12.


No offseason workouts are planned.

In order to be a member of the team, players must pass a rules quiz on Aug. 17 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, room D-5 at 10 a.m.

Qualifying rounds, or tryouts, will be held Aug. 19 and 20, followed by the start of official practice on Aug. 21. Players must be able to shoot a 65 or better in nine holes at Genoa Lakes. Players will be given two chances to qualify. A maximum of 10 players will be kept on the team.

Open gym sessions will be conducted from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Douglas High on June 10, 12, 17,19, 24 and 26 and July 1 and 3.

Beach workouts at scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays through July, along with Aug. 5 and 7 at Zephyr Cove from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Players are encouraged to bring water, snack, sunscreen, workout clothes and a swim suit.

Two-a-day conditioning runs Aug. 12-15 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 on the football field and from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Players should bring water, snack, running shoes in the morning and volleyball gear in the evening.

Tryouts will be Aug. 17 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. and Aug. 19 from 3 to 6 p.m.
