Talyn Jackson sets up win
Talyn Jackson rang up a triple-double on Thursday night to help lead the Douglas High volleyball team to a 3-0 victory at home against Wooster.
Douglas (7-2 Sierra League, 17-3 overall) won by scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-14 to remain in a second-place tie with Carson in the league race. Wooster dropped to 1-8 in league (2-17 overall).
Jackson, a 5-foot-11 junior setter who has verbally committed to play at Virginia Tech starting in the fall of 2018, dished out 30 assists to go with 15 service points and 11 digs as part of her all-around performance. She also had five of the Tigers’ 18 aces for the night.
Sierra Sullivan and Isabelle Peterson put down 10 kills each, while Hailey Hughes added nine to lead the Tigers at the net. Hughes finished with a 75.0 kill percentage (9-for-12) and Sullivan 62.5 (10-for-16). Overall, 10 players contributed kills for Douglas.
Senior Raychel Allen had a double-double with her team-high 15 points and 13 digs.
Douglas defeated Wooster, 25-7, 25-13.
Amanda Hone collected 15 service aces and 22 points overall as Douglas swept Wooster in two straight sets. Douglas won 25-5, 25-17.
