Douglas wrestling team tops Manogue

Staff Reports

William Williams and Ryan Adams took one-point decisions in their respective 113- and 120-pound weight classes on Wednesday to provide highlights for the Douglas High wrestling team in its 54-18 Sierra League dual meet win at home against Bishop Manogue.

On a night when the Tigers picked up eight forfeit wins to account for 48 of those team points, Williams defeated Peyton Talbott 7-6 in the 113-pound bout and Adams emerged a 9-8 victor against Brenden McCrorey at 126 pounds.

Williams also defeated Talbott on Saturday on his way to a fourth-place finish in the 113-pound weight class at the Carson Valley Lions Club Invitational. Douglas finished sixth as a team during its own tournament.

“This was a good weekend for Douglas wrestlers,” coach David Singer said.

The Tigers compete again on Friday and Saturday at the Fernley Vaquero Classic.
