Douglas volleyball team sweeps Wooster
Aubrey Caires and Taryn Allmett combined for 21 kills Tuesday night to help the Douglas High volleyball team sweep to a 3-0 victory against Sierra League foe Wooster.
Douglas (11-5 overall, 5-2 league) won by game scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-13 at Randy Green Court. By winning, the Tigers climbed into a third-place tie with Carson in the Sierra League standings (Bishop Manogue and Damonte Ranch are first and second). Wooster dropped to 4-5 (7-12 overall).
Caires finished the night with a double-double as she contributed 10 service points (four aces) to go with 11 kills. Allmett finished with 10 kills and nine digs.
Isabelle Peterson contributed 17 points (including six aces), 11 digs and seven kills. Talyn Jackson also had 10 points and 21 assists.
Alex Demaranville had 11 digs to share the team lead with Peterson.
Douglas visits Manogue for a match on Tuesday. The Miners were 21-4 overall (7-0 league) coming into a showdown Thursday night at Damonte Ranch.
Douglas defeated Wooster, 2-0. The game scores were 25-20, 25-23.
Robyne Foster had 11 assists and five kills for the Tigers. Peyton Craig and Madison Rodgers had four kills each and Rodgers contributed two aces. Amanda Geraldo also had seven assists and Erika Leitenbauer two digs.
Douglas defeated Wooster in two straight games, 25-13 and 25-14.
Lexi Gunnell served 11 aces, Emma Falquez eight and Lindsay Morangi five to lead the Tigers. Harmony Laney led the defense with three digs.
