Douglas volleyball sweeps past Reed

This time, the Douglas High volleyball team had a more enjoyable trip to Sparks.

Two nights after falling in three straight sets at Spanish Springs, the Tigers went on the road again Thursday and rebounded to post a 3-0 Northern 4A cross-over victory against Reed in Sparks. The Tigers won by set scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-12.

Douglas (3-1 league, 13-2 overall) was led by Isabelle Peterson’s 10 kills and Talyn Jackson with 23 assists against Reed (0-4, 2-9) at Paul Kautz Gym. Anna Bertolone and Jackson had six kills each.

Raychel Allen led the Douglas defense with 14 digs. Peterson, Jackson and Hailey Hughes combined to put down seven blocks.


Douglas came from behind to win at Reed 16-25, 25-22, 15-8.

Lexi Gunnell had 14 assists and four aces to lead the Tigers. Marlies Wendler also had three aces and Meagan LeBerth one. Jolee Godde had six kills, Scarlett Harmon four, Angelina Wolff three and Isabella Tomassi two.


Reed won the freshman match 25-15, 21-25, 15-11. Jolene Votel had seven kills and Meika Cole six for Douglas.
