Douglas volleyball knocks off Galena

Freshman Maddi Rozier rang up 13 service points and Taryn Allmett added 11 points plus the Douglas High volleyball team collected 15 aces overall in its 3-1 victory at home against Galena on Tuesday night.

By winning, Douglas (8-5 league, 14-8 overall) moved into a third-place tie with Damonte Ranch in the Sierra League standings. The Tigers defeated Galena by game scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-5, 25-17 at Randy Green Court.

Allmett had a double-double on the night with 11 kills and 11 points. Talyn Jackson also had a double-double for the Tigers, with a team-high 12 digs and 25 assists.

Isabelle Peterson led the Tigers in kills with 12.

Raychel Allen had 11 digs to go with eight points (four aces). Rozier and Allmett had two aces each.

Johnnie Saletti and Rozier contributed nine digs each.

Douglas closes out its regular season next week with a match on Tuesday at Damonte Ranch and then a home match on Thursday at 5 p.m. against arch rival Carson.


Douglas lost 2-1 against Galena. Madison Rodgers had four aces and four kills, Peyton Craig had four kills and Erika Leitenbauer seven digs. Robyne Foster also contributed 11 assists and five digs.


Douglas defeated Galena 2-1. The scores were 19-25, 25-14, 15-11. The Tigers improved their season record to 11-3.
